HWXXNG (AKA.Jaeho Hwang) is a Seou/Berlin-based DJ and composer whose work reconstructs traditional Korean instrumentation within experimental electronic music. He explores themes of self-identity and cultural connection in the post-digital age. His primary focus is to examine questions of self, heritage, and cultural connection through sound while redefining new and avant-garde Korean music amidst its contemporary crisis in culture.
CONCEPT
Reimagining "Into the New World" as a Sound of Revolution
In December 2024, Into the New World by K-pop idol group Girls’ Generation emerged as the most powerful protest song among young activists in the movement to impeach President Yoon Suk-yeol. As K-pop transformed into an anthem of civic resistance, the streets resonated with the voices of change.
Jaeho Hwang is remixing this song to reflect Korea’s new spirit of the times and cultural shift while reinterpreting it through his own experimental sound. By blending K-pop with avant-garde electronic music, he goes beyond a simple remix to capture the energy of revolution and document this pivotal moment in history through sound. The result is a bold and transformative reimagination of Into the New World.
