CONCEPT

For the project, THE THREE SOUND OF REVOLUTION, the track that I'm interested in remixing is the HAMTARO OST track.

HAMTARO OST was used as a part of the demonstration at the city's Democracy Monument under the event called 'Wing Kan Na HamTaro' on July 25, 2020. At that time, Thailand was facing economical crisis. It was during the protests demanding constitutional amendments, institutional reforms, and repeal the law Article 112 (Lèse-majesté law) as well as pushing for the dictatorship to resign.

The protesters used the HAMTARO song and modified the lyrics to match the message that people wanted to convey the social and political context at that moment alongside the symbolic activity—running in circles to imitate being a hamster wheel as well as chanting, "Dissolve the parliament" and "Authoritarians to resign." and the demands of youth to appear in the eyes of the media.

Japanese Hamtaro is pop culture from Japan. It domestically and internationally known by people. One of the demonstrators named Judy mentions that Hamtaro use to be mass and it has the potential to be mass again—Hamtaro is chosen as a symbol for the claimant. That's no different from a mouse in a cage and "that cage is about to collapse" coming out and running is "calling for change".

I am interested in HAMTARO OST as a reflection of contemporary socio-political and cultural phenomena as well as a medium for uniting people. This song with the approach of activity have inspired my art and musical practice over the past few years and I would like to document what happened during that time through the sound and music format.

In this work, I am interested in recomposing HAMTARO track. The structure of this track is divided into three parts. Following the concept of the wheel of time, Saṃsāra time system represents the "cyclicality of all life, matter, existence" the repeating process of deaths and reincarnations, an impermanent state to point out the impermanence of the authoritarian system and the decay of the deceptive dictatorship. Celebrating new hopes and new forms of solidarity that are about to arise from people.
